LPP supports the Medical University of Gdańsk in the fight against the epidemic

LPP supports the Medical University of Gdańsk in the fight against the epidemic

Tens of thousands of multiple-use protective face masks will soon be delivered to students, doctoral students and the staff of the University. This is the result of cooperation between the Medical University of Gdansk and a Polish clothing company LPP.

– The safety of students, doctoral students and employees of the University is my priority. Thanks to the good cooperation with LPP, it was possible to sew face covers which, apart from their exceptional aesthetic qualities, perform their essential function, i.e. prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus. Wear masks, everybody, this is the only way to protect ourselves and our loved ones – says Professor Marcin Gruchała, Rector of the Medical University of Gdańsk.

The face covers are made of 100 percent cotton to ensure maximum comfort of wearing. They are accompanied by a little storage bag and an instruction manual printed on ecological paper. The whole is packed in a cardboard box. The masks are designed in a modern style, and are available in both men’s and women’s versions.

– It was a spontaneous project. When we learned about the initiative of equipping students, doctoral students and university employees with face masks, which are nowadays an inseparable part of our life, we decided to support this project without a moment’s thought – explains Marek Piechocki, CEO of LPP. – We bought knitwear, designed the masks and commissioned production of 10 thousand sets. I am very pleased that they will go to those in whose hands the future of our medicine lies.

Since the beginning of the epidemic in Poland, as part of the #LPPpomaga action, the company from Gdańsk has been supporting not only infectious and specialist hospitals. The assistance in the financial and in-kind form, like face masks and other protective equipment, is also provided to emergency medical services, social welfare homes, foundations, medical centres, specialist clinics or district health centres. The list of beneficiaries is constantly growing, and LPP’s help in the fight against the pandemic has already exceeded PLN 5 million. Over a hundred people from various departments of LPP have been involved in the help actions within the framework of the #LPPpomaga since the start.
